Greenwood Secures Township Law Change

Last year, Tim Greenwood (Spengler Nathanson's Managing Partner) was successful in changing Ohio law to allow townships to abate dilapidated buildings that become a public nuisance. Tim is Sylvania Township's Law Director and while representing the Township on several abatements projects discovered that Ohio townships had been excluded from an important statute authorizing other political subdivisions to bring a civil action against property owners that allow buildings to deteriorate to the point of becoming a public nuisance. As a former legislator, Tim knew how to amend the statute and worked with local elected officials to change the law. As a result, Tim was asked to publish an article in The Ohio Township News and conduct a workout session on the topic at the Ohio Township Association Winter Conference.
